He was born June 9, 1927, to Ray Kenneth and Golda (Utterback) Inman in Greene County. On April 8, 1952, he married Delores Ellen Roark and they had three children.
Gene worked at Inman Cabinets with his brother and also worked at Crane Naval Warfare Center as a Building Supervisor. He retired in 1988. Gene was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Sandborn United Methodist Church, Charter member of the Sandborn Lions Clubs, American Legion, Sandborn Volunteer Fire Department and IVFA member for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Inman of Sandborn; two sons, Robert G. Inman of Sandborn, Kenneth R. Inman of Linton; one daughter, Linda E. (Alan) Painter of Vincennes; grandchildren, Ross Blubaum of Richland, Kegan L. Inman of Linton and one great-granddaughter, Emily Bender.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Inman.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Sandborn United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the church.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at the Sandborn United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Anderson officiating.
Friends may call at the church on Monday from 5-8 p.m. with a memorial service with the IVFA at 7 p.m. Calling hours will continue from 9 a.m. on Tuesday until the hour of service. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Ragsdale with full military graveside rites by the All-Weather Firing Squad.
The Inman family has entrusted Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel of Linton with all funeral arrangements.
