Samuel Ivan Wilson, Sr., 84 of Coal City passed away at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Jasonville.

He was born Oct. 2, 1926 in Hillsboro, Ohio to Henry Wilson and Maude (Shoemaker) Wilson. Samuel was married to Samantha K. (Kincaid) Wilson who passed away on Sept. 15, 1996.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Bettigene and Gary Powell of Jasonville, Wanda and James Orman of Spencer, Judy and Mike Matteson of Jasonville; sons and daughter-in-law, Samuel I. Wilson, Jr. of Linton, Terry Wilson of Worthington, Tim and Kelly Wilson of Clay City; sisters, Nellie Clark of Spencer and Alice Fender of Bloomington; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four sisters; and a brother.

He had worked as a security guard for Sunbeam-Keller Aluminum and worked for many of the area farmers. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street, Jasonville with visitation scheduled from 5-7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral service will follow visitation at 7:30 p.m. on Monday with Pastor Carl Leth officiating. A private burial is Tuesday, March 15 at the Winter Cemetery in Owen County.
