She served 23 years at Westlake Community Hospital before retiring at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks in 2001.
Born in Linton, Janice was a talented majorette of Linton High School, who won the state championship in a baton twirling competition. Upon graduation, she pursued her life's career in nursing at Indiana State, Union Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1956.
Janice married her husband Dick in 1959 after meeting him as an OR scrub nurse while assisting during his operation. After moving to California, New Jersey, and Denver, her daughter Sabrina was born in 1968. Janice and family settled in Westlake Village California in 1971.
Janice was always upbeat with an infectious smile that would light up the room. She had a flair for holiday decorating and dinner parties, with St Patrick's Day being her favorite. She would join her daughter Sabrina and friends for a glass of wine and be one of the girls, or sit quietly with her daughter watching the birds and enjoying the garden ambiance.
Jan cared for her community through volunteer work, helping those in need. She will be missed dearly by all those that knew her.
Janice is survived by her husband Dick, daughter Sabrina and her brother Larry Nolan.
A memorial service to be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 20 at Griffin Family Funeral Chapel in Thousand Oaks -- (805) 230-2800 -- to celebrate Janice's life and spirit with family and friends.
