He was born Aug. 15, 1939 in Fillmore, Ind., to Walter Ross and Lena (Hedge) Ross.
Survivors include his spouse, Donna Jean (Ogle) Ross of Linton, whom he married on Jan. 5, 1957; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Chuck Williford of Durham, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Kim Ross of Jasonville, Jerry and Sheryl Ross of Jasonville, and David and Jessica Ross of Linton; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Vera Jean and Wendall Clark of Greencastle; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Lois Ross of Fort Wayne; Herschel and Nancy Ross of Fillmore, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and four brothers.
He pastored for a total of 41 years. He was a member of the Blessed Hope Baptist Church where he pastored for 31 of those years. He had worked for Anaconda in Terre Haute for 16 years prior to full-time pastoring. He also enjoyed wood-working in his free time.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home, 218 South Meridian Street, Jasonville with visitation scheduled from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Blessed Hope Baptist Church on State Road 59 and 10 a.m. until the time service time Friday at the church. Funeral service is at 11 a.m., Friday, April 29 at the church with Pastor Jerry Ross officiating.
Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Blessed Hope Bus Ministry in memory of Pastor Ross. Envelopes are available at the church.
