* Delta Kappa Gamma will host its May breakfast at 10:30 a.m. at the Linton Elks Lodge. All ladies are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to the Linton Community Food Pantry.
* Worthington will host its annual Old Fashion Day. There will be street vendors, vintage displays, demonstrations, and plenty of food and live music.
* The Walnut Grove Cemetery board will meet at 2 p.m. at the church.
* The Zorah Shrine screening clinic for children will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Richard Lugar Center for Rural Health, 1433 6 1/2 St. in Terre Haute. The clinic is for newborns to 18 years of age. For more information call (812) 232-8232.
* Shawnee Theatre will host a fundraising event "Crime and Pun-ishment. A mobster murder mystery." Doors open at 7 p.m. and the mystery starts at 8 p.m. Various restaurants will be providing food that will be part of your ticket cost. Tickets are $15 and available by calling (812) 863-2364 or by contacting any board member and at the door on Saturday night. Last year's mystery was a sell out, so please get your tickets early.
* The Owensburg Cemetery Association will host a rabies clinic from 2-4 p.m. at the C.B. Hatfield (Old Lehman Store), Main Street, Owensburg. If it rains it will be in the Owensburg Fire Station. Dr. Ed Borter will be giving shots for rabies ($8) and five-way vaccination $10 (dogs only; includes distemper and parvovirus). * The Highland Township Volunteer Fire Department will host a benefit breakfast from 7-10 a.m. at the Highland Township Fire Department. Menu will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and drinks. No charge for the meal but donations will be accepted. Proceeds will go to help Highland volunteer firefighter Andrew Faultless who was injured in an accident April 19.
* The Lawrence County Rock, Mineral and Fossil Club, with members from all over south-central Indiana, will meet at 7 p.m. at the Company Concourse (1402 H. St.) in Bedford. Visitors are welcome. * The Liberty Church of Christ, Hendricksville, will host its Spring Clothing Giveaway from 8 a.m. - noon. Everything is free and everyone is welcome. Clothes, coats, shoes, toys, linens and household items will be available. A free breakfast and lunch will be served.

* Shawnee Theatre host a fundraising basket bingo event at the 4-H Fairgrounds. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for supper and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be an early bird drawing for tickets purchased prior to the event. * The Lyons Assembly of God Church, 610 West Prairie St., will host a soup and hot dog supper and a gospel sing fundraiser from 4-8 p.m. Featured groups are Heaven's Jubilee, Master's Bouquet, For His Glory, West and Friends, Family of God Singers, and others. There will be no charge, though donations will be accepted.

*The Center Township Fire Department is hosting a community day from 2-6 p.m. A photographer will take family photos. Fee for photos is $10 for 10 x 13 print. The day will include a cookout, Air Evac is scheduled to land and kids games, including a dunking booth, are scheduled. The photo tickets must be purchased in advance by contacting the fire deparment at 825-2799.
*Join the troupe of Operation Comedy for an evening of fun and laughs as they provide comment on today's current events, observations of everyday life and a few things we wish we could say! The evening will start with a wine and cheese reception from 6:30-8 pm and the show at 8. The festivities will take place at Shawnee Theater in Bloomfield and is a fundraiser for the Greene County Foundation and the USS Indianapolis Memorial Fund. Tickets are $20 each or two for $35, or $15 each for the show only. * The city of Linton will open the community to bargain hunters, collectors, and avid 'garage-salers' from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. during the third annual Linton city-wide sale. Sale will be held rain or shine. The Linton Public Library will rent booth space to those who may live in rural areas surrounding the city or may need space for your organization to host a fundraiser. * It is time to enroll students for the 2011-12 Linton-Stockton kindergarten classes. During the month of March the school needs to know the names of students who will be entering kindergarten next school year. Children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2011 are eligible to enroll. Enrollment forms may be picked up in the elementary office.

* Greene County General Hospital has announced that two $500 scholarships will be awarded in May: Dr. Mathias Mount and Dr. Kenneth Broshears scholarships. Dr. Mount was a physician from Bloomfield, and Dr. Broshears was a physician from Linton. The Dr. Mount Scholarship is given to a Greene County senior interested in pursing a healthcare career. The Dr. Broshears Scholarship is given to a student in high school or college interested in pursing a healthcare career. Applications can be picked up at the Greene County Ambulance Office in Bloomfield, the Greene County Daily World office in Linton, or in the administration office at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.

* Officials at the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles have announced that the Linton and Bloomfield license branches will have new hours of operation effective Jan. 31. The Linton license branch will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Bloomfield license branch will be open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Customers needing to conduct business with the BMV without visiting a license branch can visit the improved myBMV.com website or visit a BMV partner location. Some transactions can also be completed by phone through the BMV Customer Service Center at 1-888-692-6841.
