He was born in Jasonville on Dec. 15, 1936 and raised by his parents Chad and Wilhelmina "Billie" (Bridges) Stoops.
On Feb. 29, 1964, Jack married LaDeena J. (Moody).
Jack was a lineman and troubleshooter for Indiana Bell for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 22, Linton Masonic Lodge 560 F&AM and AT&T Pioneers. He also attended Bethel Baptist Church. His hobbies included his love of bowling, watching sports, woodworking and car shows.
Survivors include his wife, LaDeena J. Cantrell of Linton; two sons, Chad (Beth) Cantrell of Columbus, OH and Kevin (Rebecca) Cantrell of Avon; and four grandchildren, Kelsey, Kyle, Zach and Kinsey.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011, with a Masonic Memorial Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, May 28, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Cassel officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
