Richard was born on Friday, April 1, 1921 in Allen County, Ind., the son of the late William Henry Hoffman and the late Wilhelmina Griebel (Lepper) Hoffman.
He married Carolyn Correll on Feb. 21, 1954 in Linton and she survives.
Richard was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church - Flatrock in rural Monroeville, Ind.
Richard was a lifelong farmer. Richard served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Hoffman of Monroeville, Ind.; daughter, Cathryn (Richard) Boys of Fort Wayne; son, Henry (Tina) Hoffman of Fort Wayne; son, Rodney (Susan) Hoffman of Fort Wayne; daughter, Beverly Brown of Fort Wayne; son, Peter Hoffman of Monroeville, Ind.; daughter, Pamela (Walter) Hoffman of Rolla, Mo.; son, Stephen (Briana) Hoffman of West Branch, Iowa; daughter, Elizabeth (Lewis) Wiles of Rolla, Mo; daughter, Valerie Hoffman of Fort Wayne; sister, Alice Hoffman of Fort Wayne; and 19 grandchildren.
Preceding Richard in death were one son, Jesse Hoffman and one son-in-law, William Brown.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the St. John Lutheran Church - Flatrock, 12912 Franke Road, Monroeville, Ind., 46773 Church, with the Rev. Douglas Christian officiating.
Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock in rural Monroeville, Ind.
