James Gilbert Frye, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away on July 30, 2011.
He was born on Sept. 8, 1926 in Bloomfield to the late James A. and Tona Terrell Frye.
James lived in Bloomfield most of his young life. He attended high school until he was drafted in the Army 1944. He served in the Phillipines and Japan during WWII.
He married Marie Dover Frye in 1948 and they had three children. He retired in 1987 from Signal Delivery Service. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marie Dover Frye, daughter, Barbi Jackson, son, James (Doris) Frye, five grandchildren, Amanda Grow, Daniel Jackson, Erica (Freddie) Tate, Rachel and Jessica Frye, three great grandchildren, Katelyn, Makala and Evan, three sisters, Mildred Hanna, Hulda Kirk, Betty Hudnot, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy, four sisters, Alta, Audrey, Alma, Hazel and brother, Gledis.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 2 at G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 South State Road 135 and Olive Branch Road.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
