Alta M. Bedwell, 83, of Jasonville, passed away at 3:53 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 in Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Jasonville.
She was born July 26, 1928 in Newton, IL to Elmer Earl Nixon and Cleta Fern (Brooks) Nixon.
Alta married Harry Leon "Red" Bedwell on Oct. 27, 1947 and he passed away on Sept. 22, 2007.
Survivors include her daughters, Leona M. White of Dalzell, SC, Nadine Keown of Linton; sons, Dale Bedwell of Jasonville, Stanley Neil Bedwell of Coalmont; brother, Leroy Edward Nixon of Indianapolis; 6 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Leon Bedwell; sister, Alice Kirkwood; half-sister, Frances Denson; brothers, Kenneth Nixon, Earl Eugene Nixon.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Friendly Grove Baptist Church and was attending the Jasonville First Baptist Church.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana with visitation scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Brad West officiating.
Interment will be at Friendly Grove Cemetery in Lewis.
