Ronald W. Howard, 62, of Odon, died Aug. 31, 2011 at his residence.
Born Aug. 29, 1949 in Washington, he was the son of Dexter Howard and Pauline Lundy Howard.
He worked at Westinghouse for 30 years. Then, served as Deputy Town Marshal in Odon for 10 years and was an EMT for 10 years.
He was a member of the Odon United Methodist Church, Eastern Star Odon 341, Past Master Mason Lodge No. 303, past commander of the Washington Boat Club, girls softball coach, and charter member of Demoly.
A graduate of Odon High School class of 1967, he was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era and served on the USS Bowen.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruth Howard, whom he married Aug. 1, 1970; daughters Roseann (Joel) Tenant of Michigan City, and Rhonda Lea (Joey) Buckles, Cedard City, Utah; a son, Robert (Mindy) Howard of Odon; grandchildren Alex, Eric, Kendra, Jasmin and Ryder; his mother, Pauline Howard, of Odon; a sister Nadine (Ed) Robinson, of Mooresville.
He was preceded in death by is father, Dexter Howard; a brother, Doyle Howard; and a grandson, Brandon.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at the Odon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Goen officiating.
Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Odon American Legion and VFW posts.
Friends may call at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6. An FOP memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m.; Eastern Star memorial service at 6:30 p.m.; Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Poindexter-Hall & McClure Funeral Home in Odon.
