Born July 21, 1936 in Brazil, Ind., she was the daughter of Burl Gordon and Lillian (Drobnok) Bailey.
She was a full time housewife and Mom. She married Donald Eugene Strauser on Nov. 27, 1954. She got the love of baseball from her Dad and passed it down to her sons. As the boys grew she would play ball with them in the backyard. One of the boys has said she would hit the ball further than they could.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Donald Eugene Strauser; six sons and daughters-in-law, Lennie (Terri) Strauser of Bloomington, Terry (Cathy) Strauser of Bloomington, Ronald (Karen) Strauser of Carmel, Timothy (Terri) Strauser of Solsberry, Kyle (Christine) Strauser of Crawfordsville, and Barry (Tessa) Strauser of Newburgh; grandchildren, Ryan Strauser, Jacob Strauser, Adam Strauser, Lindsay Shipley, Jonathon Strauser, Matthew Strauser, Katie Strauser, Julie Strauser, Natalie Strauser, Alec Strauser, Jaret Strauser and Lilah Strauser; great-grandchildren, Noah Strauser, Samuel Strauser and Ellie Shipley; her siblings, brother, Burl "Pat" Bailey, sister, Helen Bailey; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Adam Strauser officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Carmichael Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
