He was born in Rushville, on Oct. 6, 1945 to Lyman D. and Lillian (Rowe) McKee. Jon married Kathleen A. (Cochran) Dodd on Nov. 3, 2001.
Jon was a member of the Sandborn Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army for 26 years, retiring in October 1996 with the rank of First Sergeant. Jon worked as a Veterans representative and Instructor for the Lifelong learning Institute; he also was owner of Wabash Web Design. Jon was the recipient of 2005 Veteran of the Year award given by WorkOne. Jon's hobbies included NASCAR, the Kentucky Wildcats Basketball Team and working on computers. Jon was also an avid reader.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; mother, Lillian McKee of Sandborn; two sons, Jon (Patti) McKee, Jr. and Jay (Alisa) McKee both of Linton; step-son, Jeremy (Jamie) Dodd of Vincennes; step-daughter, Tiffany Dodd of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Nyla (Jim) Johnson of Sandborn and Jill (Tim) Collins of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
Jon was preceded in death by his father, Lyman McKee in 1997.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15 and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday, Sept. 16.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at the funeral home with Warren Shake officiating.
Interment will follow in Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn with full military rites. Contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans and the Humane Society.
