John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Frances Kathleen Hubbard (Reed) and mother-in-law Carole Reed.
John was a member of the Friendly Open Bible Church in Coal City, Indiana. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a previous commander of the V.F.W in Worthington, IN. John worked in the construction field his entire life and he was also a supervisor at the Worthington Packing Company for many years.
John is survived by his brother, Tom (Brenda) Hubbard of Illinois; sister Nellie Hunter of Worthington, IN, Barbara Hill of Greencastle, IN, & Kay (Robert) Miner of Greencastle, IN.
John was preceded in death by his parents and 12 brothers and sisters.
John is survived by a loving family which includes Sheila (Chic) Stalcup of Worthington, Keith (June) Reed of Cloverdale, Kevin Reed of Worthington, and Barbara (Rob) Spears of Fremont; nieces: Amy (Daniel) Wilson of Owensburg, Jane (Tim) Bruner of Greencastle, Deanne (Steve) Blankenship of Coal City, & Jenny (Dustin) Green of Worthington; nephews: Billy (Linda) Danes of Mooresvlle, Brooke (Janice) Nash of Linton, and Robert Stalcup of Worthington; great nieces: Maddison Wilson, Shelby and Jacklynn Nash, Whitney, Morgan, and Haylee Green, MaKenna and MarLee Blankenship, and Amira Stalcup. Great nephews: AJ Bowers, Justin Wilson, Jared, Dylan, Austin, and Tyler Bruner, Blaine Smith, Riley Padgett, Brock Nash and Dennis Stalcup. John had many nieces and nephews of siblings who have passed and those who are still remaining.
A memorial service will be held at the Friendly Open Bible Church in Coal City on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. prior to the memorial on Saturday.
Cremation service entrusted to Bloomington Cremation Society under the direction of Nathan Butler Funeral Home.
