He was born Oct. 3, 1953 in Terre Haute, the son of John L. and Suzanne (Bear) Evans.
He was a member of the first graduating class from Terre Haute North in 1972. William worked for the railroad for over 30 years, was a Christian, a long-time member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a hard worker and enjoyed spending his time outdoors. Those who knew him knew he was always having a good time and enjoyed his life. He was a proud father who spoke highly of his children.
Preceding him in death were his parents, step-father John Zimmerman, and his half brother Kirk Evans.
Survivors include his children, Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann and Luke Misner of Sullivan, and Joseph William Evans and fiancee Chelsey Quirke of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, a brother, Mike and Roberta Evans of Terre Haute, a niece, Lindsey Rivers of Augusta, Ga., and two half siblings, Mary Lynn Hudson and Jackie Strickland, both of Louisiana.
Services will be at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until service time.
