LINTON POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Linton Police Department log for Sept. 21 included: One illegal burn, one drug investigation, two property damage traffic accidents, three suspicious vehicles/persons, one reckless driver, one domestic dispute and two traffic stops.
*Sept. 21 ---- The LPD investigated a battery case at a residence near the intersection of Glenburn Road and 11th Street NW. It is alleged that Jeffrey Scott Bays, 27, of rural Sullivan, struck a female in the head above her left eye with a closed fist and also slapped her with an open hand across the left side of the neck. Bays was arrested on a preliminary charge of battery with injury and taken to the Greene County Jail in Bloomfield.

* Sept. 22 -- Justin Helms, 18, of Switz City, was arrested by the Greene County Sheriff's Department on a preliminary illegal possession of alcohol charge. Released from jail after posting $500 bond. Court date set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 26.
* Sept. 21 -- William B. Chastain, 39, of Sullivan, was arrested by the Greene County Sheriff's Department on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction. Released from jail after posting $8,000 bond. Court date set for 1 p.m. on Sept. 26.
* Sept. 21 -- Jeffrey S. Bays II, 27, of rural Sullivan, was arrested by the Linton Police Department on a preliminary charge of battery with injury. Bond set at $1,000.
