Eula graduated from Indiana State University, receiving her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. She taught at Linton-Stockton Elementary School for 30 years. She was a recipient of "Teacher of the Year."
She was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Other memberships include a 40-year membership of Psi Iota Xi sorority, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, all of Linton.
She is survived by her husband, whom she married on June 13, 1942, Jesse Thomas of Linton; her daughters, Dedra (Gerald) Carr of Linton and Debbie (Ted) Riggins of Odon; a daughter by her son's marriage, Phyllis Thomas-Sweeney of Vincennes; a brother, Ray (Jane) Richards of Gosport; seven grandchildren, Chris (Nicky) Carr, Derek (Kara) Thomas, Danielle (Andy) Vieck, David (Jennie) Carr, Sage Riggins, Matthew (Beth) Riggins, and Beth Ann Riggins; and nine great-grandchildren, D'Lee Vieck, Alexis Vieck, Emma Carr, Keagan Thomas, Lily Carr, Keanna Thomas, Alexis Riggins, Robert Riggins, and Bryce Riggins.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dan Thomas.
A Psi Iota Xi service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 with a funeral service immediately following at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Reverends Kenneth Adams and David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
