Forrest L. Hogue, 89, of Switz City, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at his residence.
Born Aug. 9, 1922 in Switz City, he was the son of Jesse and Faye (Bennett) Hogue.
He served his country in World War II with the United States Army. Upon his return to Greene County, he served as County Clerk. He worked for the federal government in the CITA program as a Supervisor and also worked for the State Highway Department. He was a member of the Switz City First Christian Church and the Odd Fellows #457 in Bloomfield.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Jerry L. Hogue of Greencastle; grandchildren, Jeff Hogue of Switz City and Shelley Mason of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Brittney Hogue and Brandon Hogue (Mary) all of Switz City; several other great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores M. (Goodman) Hogue on August 23, 1986, one granddaughter, Mellisa Mowery, two brothers, 1 sister and his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Rev. Warren Shake and Lavon Yoho officiating. Interment will following in Switz City cemetery. Military services will be conducted by Bloomfield American Legion Post 196.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and one-hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Odd Fellows services will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
