Connie Bedwell Dix, 82, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, 2011 at her home in Dunnellon, Florida. She formerly lived near Shakamak until 1963.
She was born Sept. 5, 1929 in Pleasantville, Ind. to Clovis and Mary Bedwell.
Connie was married to Edward L. Dix, for 64 years. Edward Dix survives her in Dunnellon, FL.
Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Dix of Dunnellon, FL; son, Edward Dix Jr. and daughter-in-law, Denise of Ocala, FL; son, David Dix & daughter-in-law, Beverly of Largo, FL; son, Dennis Dix and daughter-in-law, Barbara, of Spring Hill, FL.; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Juanita Gardner Sabo of Clearwater, FL.
She attended Pleasantville school and was a graduate of Indiana State.
She taught home economics at Coal City and Linton schools.
After moving to Largo, Florida with her family in 1963 she was a home service advisor for Florida Power and also worked as an assistant county extension agent for Pinellas County, FL.. She then opened a furniture and custom home decor business with her husband and children.
Connie had retired but still stayed active working with daughter Jackie in their internet home decor business.
Connie had a passion for helping animals and had adopted 4 rescue dogs.
She loved her home in the country and enjoyed mowing the yard with her own riding lawn mower.
Connie enjoyed her life with her husband and animals, took care of her home, cooked, baked bread, and sewed for her business right up until her passing.
Per her wishes, she was cremated.
She will be forever missed by her devastated family.
