* The Red Bonnet Belles will meet and have lunch at China Sea in Linton at noon.
* Greene County Citizen's Academy Legacy Organization (CALO) will host its second Tour de Greene Road Rally along with a food drive that will support all county food pantries. Registration begins at noon and the road rally and motorcycle ride start at 1 p.m. from the Bloomfield Park. Cost is $10 per entry and the organization is asking participants to please bring food and toiletries, which will be divided between the county food pantries. There is a great need for the pantries at this time and CALO is calling on all Greene County residents to help out by donating. If you cannot participate in the Road Rally, please drop by and donate your items or monetary donation to the pantries. Donations will be accepted from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Oliphant Shelterhouse at the Bloomfield Park.
* A gospel sing with The Swango Family as the special guests at Union Church of Hendricksville is scheduled for today. The church is located between Solsberry and Hendricksville on State Road 43 and the sing starts at 7 p.m. There will be an open mic, and this will be the last sing of the year.
* Jasonville, Lewis Township, and Wright Township volunteer fire departments will host a safety fair at 4 p.m. at Hanna Field. There will be several activities for children and adults. The evening will conclude with a light parade of emergency vehicles through Jasonville at dark. For more information go to www.gcdailyworld.com for a story about the event.
* A bluegrass gospel festival with New Terrain and The Flinns will be at The Word of Life Fellowship, five miles east of Bloomfield on State Road 54, at 6 p.m. There will be a pie and dessert auction and other surprises.
* Greene County Singles will host a dance at the Greene County 4-H Community Building. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner is from 6-7 p.m., and the dance is from 7-10 p.m.
* There will be a chili supper sponsored by the Scotland Historical Society at the Scotland Fire Station from 5-8 p.m. Music by Sheriff Terry Pierce will begin at 6:30 p.m.
* Lyons Community Food Pantry will have a Trunk or Treat food drive at Lyons Park from 6-8 p.m. Donators of non-perishable food items will receive a free pumpkin, and those in costume will receive an additional sweet treat. Free homemade hot chocolate will be available. In the event of inclement weather, the drive will move to the community building. For more information contact Judy Mullis at 798-4421.
Sunday, Oct. 16
* Dugger First Christian Church will host revival services today through Wednesday. Sunday services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. Evangelist Ben Merold will be the speaker. There will be a carry-in dinner today at 12:15 p.m.
* Switz City Full Gospel Church, with Pastor Vernon Thompson, will host Old Fashion Days right after Sunday school, around 11:30 a.m. There will be a special fellowship service at 3 p.m. with special singing from Tania Curruchiche and others from Bloomington. The public is invited to enjoy eating and games on the grounds.
* Bethany Christian Church will host evangelist Bryron Holtsclaw today through Thursday. The evening will begin today at 6 p.m. with the Diggles Family Singers, and at 7 p.m. the rest of the week. The church is two miles west of Bloomfield; turn south onto 250 West from State Road 54 and follow signs to the church. From State Road 57 turn east onto 275 South and follow signs. * Bloomfield Mount Zion Wesleyan Church, three miles north of town on State Road 157, will host its annual homecoming. A basket dinner will start at noon in the Oddfellows Hall. The afternoon meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Lynbel Manship will be the speaker.
* The Scotland United Methodist Church will host a revival today through Tuesday at 7 p.m. each night. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Al McFadden with special singers Larry Corns and Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Vandeventer.
* The Greene County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. at Nine Mile United Methodist Church. Please bring your pictures and memories to share if you have them. The program will include Nine Mile School, Nine Mile United Methodist Church and Bohley Cemetery.
Monday, Oct. 17
* The Greene County Highway Department has announced that County Road 700 S. (Scotland Road) between State Road 58 and 200 E. (Westgate Road) will be closed starting today for up to six weeks for bridge replacement.
* The Linton-Stockton School Board of Trustees will conduct an executive session at 6 p.m., followed by a regular board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the administration building.
Tuesday, Oct. 18
* Dugger Lodge 721 F&AM will have a called meeting to work in FC Degree at 7 p.m. Visiting brethren are welcome.
Wednesday, Oct. 19
* Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library Main Branch Tots Time program, for children 2-3 years old, will be at 10:30 a.m. The themes for the sessions are Fall Colors, the color for this week will be orange.
* The Greene County General Hospital Auxiliary will host a scrubs sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital lobby.
Thursday, Oct. 20
* The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library Main Branch will have Preschool Storytime at 10:30 a.m. for ages 4-6 years. The theme will be "1,2,3, Repeat after Me." Preschool Storytime is the first and third Thursday of each month, now through December. For more information call 384-4125.

* Saron United Church of Christ will host a 10-plus family rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tacos in a bag and drinks will be available for lunch.
* The Greene County Right to Life will conduct its annual Pro-Life Dinner at the Knights of Columbus in Linton. The meal will begin at 6:30 p.m. Keynote speaker for the event will be State Rep. Matt Ubelhor and music will be provided by State Rep. Bruce Borders. Mark and Stacy Elliott will be special guests with the story of their adoptions. * The Linton Public Library will host the Indy Ghost Hunters from 1 to 3 p.m.
* The Linton-Stockton High School Band Boosters will be have a fall trash bag sale from 9 a.m. to noon. LSHS band and Miner kadets will be visiting neighborhoods to sell trash bags in support of the band. If you are missed, call 847-6022 ext. 309 to place an order.

* The Aperture Antics Photography Club will meet at the Linton Public Library at 6 p.m. The club meets the fourth Monday of each month.

* The White River Valley junior class will host a basket, tool, and pottery bingo at the Lyons Community Building at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30. Tickets can be purchased early or at the door. * The Linton Public Library will host a Spooky movie night for adults: The movie Hocus Pocus will be shown from 6 to 8 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 27
* The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will present "Boo-rific, a Family Halloween Show" at 6 p.m. at the Bloomfield Public Library Main Branch. It's silly not scary, it's just plain fun for kids of all ages. There will be magic, puppets, storytelling, and even some safety tips.
* The Greene County Tourism Advisory Board (GCTAB) will host a tourism workshop from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds as they continue the work of its three committees: Marketing, Product Development, and Destinations. * The Linton Public Library will host a Spookapalooza from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for preteen/teenagers. There will be a mad-scientist laboratory, spooky stories, Scooby-Doo short films, games, crafts and snacks. No costumes please.
Saturday, Oct. 29
* The Switz City Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. will host its annual Chili Supper and Haunted Hayride. Serving starts at 4 p.m. at the fire station. Cost is by donation. The haunted hayride begins at dark. An adult must accompany children under the age of 16.
* A fish fry will be conducted from 4-7 p.m. at the south shelterhouse at Bloomfield Park as a fundraiser for the District 7 Eastern Star. Fish, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies, and drink will be $8 for adults and $4 for those 12 and under. Carry-out will be available. Pies will be available at $1.50 a slice.
* The Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its third annual Linton Fall Arts Festival from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. in downtown Linton. Attractions include: Fine arts vendors, food vendors, chili cook-off sponsored by Linton Rotary, pumpkin decorating sponsored by Glenburn Home, children's activities sponsored by Walmart, and a scavenger hunt sponsored by downtown businesses. Sculpture Trails of Solsberry will be on-site preparing a sculpture highlighting local attractions and arts, with festival attendees being invited to participate in the creation of this sculpture. The finished sculpture will be permanently displayed.
* The Bykota Home Ec Club will host a holiday craft and gift bazaar starting at 8 a.m. in the Dugger Community Building. Admission is $1. Booth space is $30, and for more information call 648-2129 or 847-9236.
* The chili cook-off for the Hendricksville Area Association is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hendricksville Area Community Center, State Road 43. If you would like to enter chili for judging and sharing please have chili at the center by 3 p.m. Serving will start at 4 p.m. Menu includes: Chili, hot dogs, grilled cheese, pies, cakes, and brownies. Live entertainment will be by Kevin Hirth, Randy Cowden, Gary Eads, Sheriff Terry Pierce, and Bedford Blakely and friends.
* The Linton Public Library will host a Halloween party for ages up to fourth grade from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Costume judging will be at 12:30 p.m. There will be games, snacks, stories, and prizes.
* From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the American Red Cross bloodmobile will be in the Linton Public Library parking lot. Please call Michelle Zentko at the library to schedule an appointment time. The number is 847-7802.
* The Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department will host a fish fry from 4-8 p.m. at the fire station on Furnace Road in Bloomfield. Menu will include fish and homemade baked beans, potato salad and desserts. Drinks will also be available.
Monday, Oct. 31
* Glenburn Home in Linton will host trick or treating from 5-7 p.m. Four community areas will be set up for treats. Children are welcome to attend, and must be accompanied by a parent.
* The Linton-Stockton Band Boosters will host a Jonah Fish Fry at the Roy Clark Community Building from 4 to 8 p.m. The menu will include Jonah fish, baked beans, slaw or apple sauce, dessert, and drink. Cost is adults $7 and children 12 and under $4. Carry-out will be available.
Friday, Nov. 4
* The Women's Service Council of Worthington Christian Church is taking orders for poinsettias. Orders must be placed before today. Customers may pick up their order at the Worthington Christian Church on Friday, Dec. 2 from 4-8 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Delivery will be available on orders of $100 or more. * The Greene County Literacy Trivia Bowl will be at 1 p.m. at Saron United Church of Christ in Linton. Teams will consist of four people, and cost is $20 per person/$80 team. There will be prizes and free food. Contact Beth Burcham at 384-4125 for more information.

* Pleasant Grove Church of Christ will host an event each Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. If you have been searching for answers concerning how to strengthen your family relationship, and discover your calling in life, then the church has something that will help. There will be a meal and then a DVD presentation. Other topics covered will be finances, health, handling conflict, overcoming anger, overcoming addictions, and many other critical topics that pertain to marriages and families. * The WorkOne Linton office, located in the Linton Shopping Center, is offering free computer classes to anyone who wants to improve their skills. Classes are offered for complete beginners, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel software. There will be classes on Oct. 14, Oct. 28, Nov. 18, Dec. 9 and Dec. 16. Beginner classes are 8:30-9:30 a.m.; Word classes are 9:30-11 a.m. and Excel classes are 11-12:30 p.m. Since there is some limitation to space, call the office at 847-4479 to reserve your seat.
* Applications for low-income families to obtain clothing and toys for their children at Christmas are available beginning Oct. 3 and continuing until Nov. 1 at the following locations: Greene County Division of Child Services (CR 70E, Bloomfield); Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce (159 1st St. NW); Bloomfield Town Hall (12 E. Main); Jasonville Utility Office (304 W. Main); Worthington Town Hall (SR 67). Families living in Greene County school districts are eligible to apply for benefits for children 12 years old and under. Applications must be returned to any of the above locations, or postmarked to P.O. Box 516, Linton, Ind., 47441, by Nov. 1.
* Adult soccer is now being offered on Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Greene County Soccer Complex in Linton. For registration information, please go to www.greenecountysoccer.com. Payment of a $35 registration fee is required to be able to play. Registration forms will also be available at the fields.
* The Linton Public Library is now operating at its winter hours: Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday, closed.
* The Hobbieville Christian Fellowship Church will host a gospel sing the second Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. There will be food served.
* The Linton-Stockton High School class of 2012 is selling Miner discount cards for $5. These cards are available from senior students and parents, and offer valuable discounts from local businesses. * The board of directors of the Peavey Cemetery is planning to replace the old flagpole and flag at the entrance. * WorkOne in Linton is hosting a new program for employers. The AARP Foundation WorkSearch program offers employers a chance to have workers for two to three weeks at no cost so it will ensure that it's a good match before you hire them full-time. * There will be a family/Christian movie night at Woodland Bible Camp from 7-10 p.m. It will be the second Friday of every month. Please bring your favorite finger food or dessert.
* The Main Branch of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will have a Safari Tots Storytime for children ages 2 - 3 years Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Explore the world of animals through stories, games and crafts. The Trekkers Storytime is for children entering grades 1-5, Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. Come in and "trek" around the world through stories, games, and crafts. Students, entering grades 6-12, will have a Movie Mania program at 6 p.m., preregistration is required for all teen programs, limit 12. Movie presented will be "I am Number Four." * Books for Babies is a national literacy program that acquaints parents and newborns with the important role they play in the development of their children. Parents are presented with a Books for Babies kit containing a book, baby's first library card and brochures with reading tips for parents and caregivers. If you are a new mother and a resident of Greene County in one of the following townships -- Richland, Highland, Taylor, Beech Creek, Center or Jackson -- you are eligible for a free gift for you and your baby. Please bring your baby in "to show him/her off" to the circulation desk in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library, 125 Franklin St. in Bloomfield to receive your free gift.

* Bingo at the American Legion in Worthington is on Fridays. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with games at 6:15 p.m. This is open to the public. Cost is $30 for 15 games All proceeds go to the Worthington American Legion. This event is non-smoking with breaks made for smokers to go outdoors.

* A 12-Step Overcomers Recovery Support Meeting is held every Wednesday at the Family Life Center on the East side of the square in Bloomfield from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Come and join us to overcome life-controlling problems of all sorts with Bible principles, prayer, memory verses and weekly support. * Lebanon Baptist Food Pantry will only be open on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m.
* The Refuge Assembly of God food pantry will be open every Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. to assist those living in Bloomfield. To donate, please contact Trina at 384-8093 during the pantry's open hours.
* The Mineral Christian Men's Group meets at 8 a.m. every third Saturday of the month at the Mineral Community Building.
