* Linton-Stockton High School Board of School Trustees will host a work session at 6 p.m.

* Greene County Coin Club will meet at the Greene County 4-H Building. Dealers will be available at 6 p.m. and meeting will start at 7 p.m. Officers for 2012 will also be nominated. Call 384-8516 for more information.

Thursday, Nov. 10

* The Shakamak Board of School Trustees will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. There will be an executive session prior to or after the public session.

* The Greene County Sheriff's Merit Board will meet at 6 p.m. in the conference room at the Greene County Jail.

Friday, Nov. 11

* Jasonville American Legion Sons & Women's Auxiliary will host a Veteran's Day dinner for all veterans at 6:30 p.m. at the Jasonville Legion.

* Lyons American Legion Post 479 will host a Veteran's Day program at 4:30 p.m. at the post. A dinner will follow at 5 p.m.

* Jasonville F&AM Lodge 530 will have work in the EA degree. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and work will begin at 7 p.m. All visiting brethren are welcome.

* Anderson-Poindexter Funeral Home will host a veteran's memorial service at 1 p.m. on its lawn on North Main St.

* The Greene County Veterans Council will host its Veteran's Day service at 11 a.m. on the courthouse lawn with Chief Greg Laskowski of NSWC as guest speaker. The Bloomfield NJROTC and Center Stage Choir will also participate. In case of inclement weather, the service will be at American Legion Post 196 in Bloomfield.

* Trash in Linton that is normally picked up today will be picked up Saturday because of Veteran's Day. The Thanksgiving and Christmas trash pick-up schedules will be announced soon.

* Eastern Greene School will conduct a Veteran's Day program at 8:30 a.m. Area veterans and the general public are invited. A reception for military veterans will be conducted immediately following the program. Veterans are asked to call Teresa Bartlett at 825-5621, extension 2214 to make reservations.

* Bloomfield American Legion will be hosting a Flag pole dedication ceremony at 12:30 p.m. This will be at the new flag pole in the Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield. The old pole is being replaced due to there not being any lighting so the flag can be displayed year round.

Saturday, Nov. 12

* Pleasantville United Methodist Church will host a turkey supper starting at 3 p.m. Cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-10, and 3 and under will be free. Call 798-1079 for more information.

* The Greene County Literacy Trivia Bowl will be at 1 p.m. at Saron United Church of Christ in Linton. Teams will consist of four people, and cost is $20 per person/$80 team. There will be prizes and free food. Contact Beth Burcham at 384-4125 for more information.

* The Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church will host a chili supper fundraiser to benefit the Lyons Area Food Pantry. It will be at the Prairie Chapel UM Church on S.R. 57 from 4-6 p.m. Menu will consist of chili, sandwiches, dessert and a drink. Free will donations will be accepted.

Sunday, Nov. 13

* Linton Elks Lodge will host a buffet dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It's open to the public. Money raised will help local charities.

* Hendricksville Area Association's monthly fundraiser breakfast will be from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Community Center, State Road 43, Hendricksville. The breakfast will benefit the Hendricksville Area Association for various community projects. Menu includes: Bacon, ham, sausage, eggs, omelets (no Western), biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes, pancakes, and French toast.

* The Circle of Friends Christian Country/Southern Gospel Band, from Daviess County will perform at Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church in Worthington. The church is located at 8 N. Lafayette Street. Service begins at 11 a.m. and a covered dish Harvest Dinner will follow.

Monday, Nov. 14

* There will be a free seminar at the Linton Public Library today from 4-5 p.m. and Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to noon. The seminar is Retirement years: Ten steps to financial success.

* County Road 1500 West will be closed today and for the next eight weeks due to a bridge replacement.

* The Women of The Moose Lodge 1434 will host a blood drive at the lodge from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

* Something's Cooking at the west shelterhouse at Humphreys Park at 6:30 p.m. With the holidays coming you can learn some baking basics, substitutions for missing ingredients and make some simple yet tasty cookies.

Thursday, Nov. 17

* Greene County Memory Makers Quilt Guild will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Bloomfield Public Library. Rhonda Burch is in charge of the program, and all quilters are welcome. Call Nancy Hudson at 384-6551 if you have any questions.

* The Greene County Alliance for Networking and Growth (GCA) will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Stoll's Restaurant in Linton. This will be a business meeting mixed with year-end celebration

Friday, Nov. 18

* Bloomfield SAL Squadron 196 will host brats and wings veterans night from 5-8 p.m. Anyone who shows a valid military ID will receive either one free brat or three free wings.

* Sandborn will host a town wide "Clean Up Day" today and Nov. 19. There will be dumpsters set up at the sewer plant, so anyone who lives in town (must have proof of residency) can get rid of unwanted junk.

Saturday, Nov. 19

* Eastern Greene Middle School will host a holiday craft bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria and multipurpose room. Booth space is $15. For more information call Gina Henderson at 825-5010. All money benefits the Students Against Violence Everywhere chapter.

* Linton Psi Iota Xi Sorority is sponsoring a Festival of Homes house tour of eight beautiful homes in Linton for a $10 donation. It will be from noon to 5 p.m. Call Sharon at 847-9963 or Smith Printing at 847-4837 for more information.

* The Solsberry American Legion, Sons of the Legion, and the Legion Auxiliary will have their Thanksgiving dinner at the Post Home. A carry-in dinner starts at 6 p.m., and please bring your own table service. All members, families, and friends are invited to attend.

* The Worthington Garden Club will have a soup and dessert luncheon from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Senior Citizens building in Worthington. Proceeds will go toward the Worthington Garden Club Park.

* The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will have a Recipe Swap and free showing of "Julie and Julia" at 2 p.m. Bring a copy of your favorite recipe to share.

* Bloomfield American Legion Color Guard breakfast will be from 7-10 a.m. at the post. Cost is $6 for all you can eat.

Thursday, Nov. 24

* Linton First Christian Church, located on State Road 54 East, will host a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Carry-out, delivery and eat-in meals are available. Call 847-9535 beginning Nov. 1 to make delivery requests.

Wednesday, Nov. 30

* The 2011 Bloomfield Holiday Decorating Contest is sponsored by Psi Iota Xi. Commercial and residential entries with Bloomfield addresses are accepted. Forms must be received by 5 p.m. today. * Greene County Emergency Management will be sponsoring a Tornado Spotter's Course on in the Conference Room of the Greene County Extension Service Building at the fairgrounds. Contact the Emergency Management office at 384-4127 for more information.

* Linton Tri Kappa has cheese balls available. Cheese balls with nuts are $6.50 and cheese balls plain are $6. Contact Beth Gillan at 847-2010 or any Tri Kappa member to order.

* Beta Sigma Phi is hosing a wreath auction at the Old Bank & Company Restaurant in Linton from now until Dec. 2. They can be viewed Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 5-10 p.m.

* The leaf pick-up schedule in Linton will be the day after your normal trash pick-up day.

* Bloomfield American Legion Post 196 bingo is every Thursday night. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and early-bird games begin at 6 p.m., and regular games at 7 p.m.

* Pleasant Grove Church of Christ will host an event each Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. If you have been searching for answers concerning how to strengthen your family relationship, and discover your calling in life, then the church has something that will help. There will be a meal and then a DVD presentation. Other topics covered will be finances, health, handling conflict, overcoming anger, overcoming addictions, and many other critical topics that pertain to marriages and families. * The WorkOne Linton office, located in the Linton Shopping Center, is offering free computer classes to anyone who wants to improve their skills. Classes are offered for complete beginners, as well as Microsoft Word and Excel software. There will be classes Nov. 18, Dec. 9 and Dec. 16. Beginner classes are 8:30-9:30 a.m.; Word classes are 9:30-11 a.m. and Excel classes are 11-12:30 p.m. Since there is some limitation to space, call the office at 847-4479 to reserve your seat.

* The Linton Public Library is now operating at its winter hours: Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday, closed.

* The Hobbieville Christian Fellowship Church will host a gospel sing the second Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. There will be food served.

* The Linton-Stockton High School class of 2012 is selling Miner discount cards for $5. These cards are available from senior students and parents, and offer valuable discounts from local businesses. You can also purchase tickets at Regions Bank, Linton Sporting Goods or by calling Rennae Lehman at 699-0907.

* The board of directors of the Peavey Cemetery is planning to replace the old flagpole and flag at the entrance. Anyone wishing to donate to the cause, please contact board members Danny Keller, John Hubbell, Fred Hubbell or Lorene Pell. * Meals on Wheels is now available at the Lyons Senior Citizens Center starting at 11:30 a.m. Please call 847-3509 the day before you plan to attend. For those who are homebound and need meals delivered, call 2-1-1 or 1-800-742-9002.

* WorkOne in Linton is hosting a new program for employers. The AARP Foundation WorkSearch program offers employers a chance to have workers for two to three weeks at no cost so it will ensure that it's a good match before you hire them full-time. * There will be a family/Christian movie night at Woodland Bible Camp from 7-10 p.m. It will be the second Friday of every month. Please bring your favorite finger food or dessert.

* The Main Branch of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will have a Safari Tots Storytime for children ages 2 - 3 years Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Explore the world of animals through stories, games and crafts. The Trekkers Storytime is for children entering grades 1-5, Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m. Come in and "trek" around the world through stories, games, and crafts. Students, entering grades 6-12, will have a Movie Mania program at 6 p.m., preregistration is required for all teen programs, limit 12. Movie presented will be "I am Number Four." * Books for Babies is a national literacy program that acquaints parents and newborns with the important role they play in the development of their children. Parents are presented with a Books for Babies kit containing a book, baby's first library card and brochures with reading tips for parents and caregivers. If you are a new mother and a resident of Greene County in one of the following townships -- Richland, Highland, Taylor, Beech Creek, Center or Jackson -- you are eligible for a free gift for you and your baby. Please bring your baby in "to show him/her off" to the circulation desk in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library, 125 Franklin St. in Bloomfield to receive your free gift.

* The Bohley Cemetery board is taking donations for upkeep at the cemetery. For more information call 384-8375.

* Bingo at the American Legion in Worthington is on Fridays. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with games at 6:15 p.m. This is open to the public. Cost is $30 for 15 games All proceeds go to the Worthington American Legion. This event is non-smoking with breaks made for smokers to go outdoors.

* Narcotics Anonymous will meet Saturdays at 7 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church on State Road 54 East. There will be open discussion and all are welcome.

* Lebanon Baptist Food Pantry will only be open on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m.

* The Refuge Assembly of God food pantry will be open every Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. to assist those living in Bloomfield. To donate, please contact Trina at 384-8093 during the pantry's open hours.

* The Mineral Christian Men's Group meets at 8 a.m. every third Saturday of the month at the Mineral Community Building.

* The Pleasantville United Methodist Church food pantry is now open on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 10:30 a.m. - noon.
