Forest L. Hanson

Forest L. Hanson, 89, of Bloomfield, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 at the Lyons Health & Living Center in Lyons.

Born Nov. 14, 1921 in Greene County, he was the son of Charles and Verna (Burch) Hanson.

Forest was retired from Crane as an ordnance worker and was an Army veteran of WW II. He was a member of the Bloomfield American Legion Post # 196, Bloomfield Masonic Lodge and the Worthington VFW.

Surviving relatives include his two daughters; Linda Hash of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Nancy Hixon of Harrison, Ark.; one sister Mary Gainey of Columbia, Tenn.; one brother, John Hanson of Columbus, Ohio, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Verna Belle Hanson on Sept. 16, 2001; two sisters Grace Hanson and Thelma Collings; one brother James R. Hanson; and one grandson Scott Hash.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and noon Saturday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in rural Bloomfield with the Bloomfield American Legion Post # 196 conducting a military graveside service.
