Thomas defeats Seifert by 81 votes for Jasonville clerk-treasurer
It's another victory for Jasonville Clerk-Treasurer Charlotte Thomas.
With a lead of 187 to 108, Thomas (D) edged out (R) James Seifert for another four-year term.
Clerk-Treasurer since 1996, Thomas says she has been honest, hard-working and dependable.
"I'm real happy to win, and I want to thank everyone who voted for me," noted Thomas. "I also want to thank the people who work with me and especially Nicole Wilson who has helped me since I returned from sick leave."
Thomas added that she will do the best she can like she always has and noted that she is almost caught up balancing the books.
She went on to say that the position is a "lot bigger job than anyone thinks."
Thomas is a life-long resident of Jasonville and a Shakamak High School graduate.
Prior to the clerk-treasurer's position, she worked at the Greene County Treasurer's Office and for Jasonville utilities.
Thomas is the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of three granddaughters.
Seifert, who is new to the political community, says he thanks voters for participating in the election and thanks his supporters for their sacrifice and efforts.
Seifert added that he would like to thank the community for putting up with the unsightly lawn signs and door hangers,
"I would also like to congratulate Kent May who won the council seat in Ward 1.
