She was born July 19, 1929, in Linton, the daughter of Dewey and Nellie Mae (Abbott) Brown.
She retired from Linton General Electric after 34 years of service. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Eastern Star and a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #22, all of Linton.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Bedwell of Linton, a son, Terry W. (Rose) Truitt of Sioux Falls, SD, a sister, Marie (Jim) Workman of Linton, five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert "Red" Truitt, Nov. 14, 2001, three sisters, Thelma Holden, Mary Bryant, and Becky Chapman, and two brothers, Sammy Benevola and Dewey "Junior" Brown Kenworthy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, Pastor Eddie Egbert officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Gideons through Welch & Cornett Funeral Home.
