Vernilia Louise Sinders Vest, 90 , of Jasonville and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away at 3:18 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17,2011 at her niece's residence in Sullivan.
She was born Feb. 8, 1921 in Clay County to William H. Sinders and Rachael (Willigman) Sinders.
Vernilia married Clarence F. Vest on April 17, 1960. He passed away in 1979.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Ruthanna and Bob Davis of Sullivan, whom she had lived with for 2 1/2 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Ruth Malone and Ernestine Meredith, four brothers: Gale Sinders, Herschel Sinders, Ralph Sinders and Claude Sinders.
Vernilia graduated from Coalmont High School Class of 1939. She attended the United Methodist Church at Shelburn. Vernilia worked for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company of Terre Haute in the laundry department repairing uniforms. She also worked as a nurses aide at Meadows Manor Nursing Home for about five years.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, IN with visitation scheduled from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 20 at the Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Carolyn Clark officiating.
Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute.
