Ralph E. Speer, 65, of Spencer died at 5:05 a.m. on Monday at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born March 24, 1946 in Mitchell, the son of Grant Speer and Hazel (Kelly) Speer.
A graduate of Elnora High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-69 and retired from NWSC Crane on Jan. 31, 2011. He was a member of the Spencer Nazarene Church.
Survivors include: his wife Cindy (Stanger) Speer; sons Cade Speer and Toma Speer, of Bloomfield, a son, Kory (Kim) Bucklew, of Carol Stream, Ill.; daughters, Jennifer Speer (Charles) Hanakat, of Northbrook, Ill., Karie Bucklew (Shane) Lewis of Connersville, Kristine Bucklew (Chris) Marsico, of Cranberry Township, Pa.; grandchildren, Christine Hanskat, Michael Hanskat, Christopher Hanskat, Evan Cannon, Alexander Hanskat, Allison Lewis, Alivia Lewis, Brooke Lewis, Spencer Marsico, Riley Marsico, Jacob Speer, Emmalee Lewis, Ethan Marsico; great-grandchildren, Hannah Hanskat and Matthew Hanskat; a brother, Bud (Lynne) Speer of Odon; and a sister, Ginny (Bob) Bechtel, of Odon.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Odon Nazarene Church, with the Rev. Mark Bechtel officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW and American Legion. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel, and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
