William L. 'Bill' Dove

William L. 'Bill' Dove, 68, of Linton, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Greene County General Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1943, in Terre Haute to Arthur L. and Madge A. (Tatlock) Dove.

Bill graduated from Gerstmeyer High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served during the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Marine Corp, he became a coal miner and worked with Peabody Coal Company for 31 years, retiring in 2000. Bill was a member of the Frank Courtney American Legion Post #22 and the UMWA. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his loyal dog, Sammy.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Anna Grace (Williams) Dove, son Rusty (Lisa) Dove of Terre Haute, step-sons: David and Mark Neal of Lafayette, and grandsons: Josh and Zach Dove, along with several step-grandchildren and one sister.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton on Friday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Gerald DeVore officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #22. Bill will be laid to rest with his pal and K-9 friend, 'Waggs'.

Visitation will be at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. on Friday.
