Born Jan. 11, 1919, in Shelburn, Ind., he was the son of the late Geoffrey S. and Lula (Lutz) Buzard.
Allen earned an engineering degree and had worked at Corcoran Metal Products in Washington, Ind., where he was in charge of production and U.S. Rubber where he was also in charge of the production line. From 1948 to 1977 he managed Buzard Brothers Furniture store in Shelburn, which his parents had established in 1912. In 1960 he became a minister and his first ministry was at Lincoln Christian Church near Worthington. He became a full-time minister in 1977 while he was the minister at the First Christian Church of Linton. He later served as minister at Hart Street Church in Vincennes and churches in Flat Rock, Ill., and Montgomery, Ind. He also served as interim minister at Bicknell, Dugger and many other churches in the region. He also was an active supporter of Johnson Bible College, now Johnson University which named him an honorary alumnus. The volunteer prison ministry was his passion for 40 years and he served as a volunteer minister at Terre Haute, Robinson, Carlisle, and at the Knox County Jail until three weeks before his death.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda L. (Harbaugh) Buzard; son, A. Vincent Buzard (Ann) of Rochester, New York and three grandchildren, Laura E. Buzard of Seattle, Susannah Buzard of Boston, and Olivia Buzard DiLeanordo of Orlando.
Preceding Allen in death were his; son, Jeffrey Buzard and sister, Iola A. Bennett.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St. with Ben Merrill and Roger Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
