Born May 6, 1930 in Greene County, he was the son of Wayne and Ruby Fern (Helms) Vandeventer.
Dewey was a long haul carrier truck driver for Bekins Van Lines, he was an Army veteran and enjoyed working on the farm and restoring classic cars.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Nancy C. Livermore of Bloomfield; three children, Leatrice (George) Buhler of Greenville, Texas, Sean Vandeventer of Dallas, Texas, and Kirsten (Judson) Burch of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Lesa (Wallace) Darst, Jason (Krystal) Buhler and Lindsey Buhler; six great grandchildren; four brothers, Leon (Faye) Vandeventer of Bloomfield, Kenneth (Carole) Vandeventer of Noblesville, Ray (Sandy) Vandeventer of Bloomfield, and Lonnie (Janet) Vandeventer of Marion, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Thomas Wayne Vandeventer.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and noon Saturday until the hour of service at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Pastor Eugene Helms officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery in Solsberry.
