Ervin L. "Jody" Shepard Sr., 80, of Bicknell, passed away Sunday night at 11:55 p.m. at the Oak Village Nursing Center.
He was born August 8, 1931 in Oaktown, the son of Hillis "Hawk" and Alvena Dillon Shepard.
He was a graduate of Oaktown High School and he married Viola Arthur in October of 1957 and they made their lives together for over 45 years until her death on Sept. 20, 2002. He worked as superintendent for the Knox County Highway Department until his retirement. He formerly worked for Green Construction and Crane Naval Depot. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a attended the United Methodist Church in Newberry and the Church of the Nazarene in Bicknell, IN.
He is survived by his children, Ervin L. Shepard Jr, and his wife Diana of Vincennes, IN and Jodi Allen, and her husband Richard of Newberry; grandchildren, Jennifer Shepard, Jonathan Shepard, Brett Edwards, Amy Edwards and Brittany Allen and a great-grandson, Jacob Allen.
Funeral service will be celebrated Friday March 2, at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Pastor Jon McKinnon officiating.
He will be laid to rest in the Oaktown Cemetery next to his wife.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel.
