Ruby Frances (Williams) Godsey went home to Jesus on Saturday March 3, 2012 after suffering with dementia and other medical problems for many years.
Ruby was born on June 25, 1920 in Bloomington.
She graduated with honors from Patricksburg High School and later attended Indiana University. She had many friends and careers throughout her life, and was justly admired for her wisdom, compassion, vitality, honesty, strong independent spirit, and devotion to God. She enjoyed bird watching, cooking, and tending all things that grow. She was very kind, passionately devoted to her family and provided an excellent example of lasting, deep love.
Ruby is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Charles (Charley) who has been her inseparable caretaker for many years. She is survived also by sons Charles (Charlie) Cross (Carol), Rick Cross (Pat), daughter Gayle Asher (Mike), stepson Garold Godsey, compassionate sister-in-law Linda Tinsley (Johnny), sisters Mary Doyle and Dorothy Lee (Art) and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Franklin Butcher Williams and Alta Pearl (Hacker) Williams, sister Vera Lentz, brothers William Williams and Wayne Williams, first husband Clyde W. Cross (1960), and son Clyde W. (Bill) Cross, Jr.
The family is so grateful to each dear one who lovingly helped Ruby for so long in her great and dire needs including her team of doctors, nurses and other fine caretakers, administrators and directors of care, neighbors, friends and family who lovingly cared for her.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside services only will be held at Friendship Park Cemetery near Paragon on the morning of Friday, March 9 at 10:30 a.m.
Remembrances may be sent to the Godsey home in Bloomington or in care of Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville.
Goodbye for now, precious Ruby, but only for a little while, thanks to Jesus and Ruby's unconditional belief in Him!
