John M. Pierson, 59, of Washington and formerly of Petersburg, passed away Feb. 29, 2012 at his residence in Washington.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1952 in Topeka, Kan., to Daryl and Mary (Maynard) Pierson.
John was a decorated war veteran who retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. After retirement, John worked for NSWC Crane and Applied Logistics Services, Inc.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kari and his wife, Kimberly.
Surviving relatives include: his parents, Daryl and Mary Pierson; two daughters, Sarah Henry and Carly Pierson; two sons, Bran Pierson and Jason Brown; two sisters, Kelly Swift and Marianne Berube; one brother, David Pierson; one step-daughter, Emily Risley Skelton; and one step-son, Zon Risley. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was conducted on Wednesday, March 14 at 1:30 p.m. at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, Ind.
The family wishes any donations be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure.
Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg handled the arrangments.
