Shirley Vivian Johnson, 89, of Mooresville and formerly of Linton, passed from this life and went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

Shirley was born in Midland, IN, on Feb. 25, 1923, to George and Audrey (Henney) Pope. She married Charles A. Johnson on July 13, 1941, and together they had 6 children.

Shirley was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Linton and a charter member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Jasonville. She was a homemaker, who enjoyed reading her Bible, singing, playing her piano, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include: two sons: Lloyd (Grethel) Johnson of Paragon and Jerry Joe (Linda) Johnson of Anderson; four daughters: Charlotte (Brent) McPhail of Monrovia, Trudy (Charles) Gray of Martinsville, Teresa (Mark) May of Jasonville, and Rita (Doug) Marczak of Linton; 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren; one brother Keith (Patty) Pope of Vincennes; and two sisters: Iris (George) Peavey of Jasonville, and Kay Wall of Anderson.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Johnson (2001), and one sister Gayle Spainhower.

Funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Pastor Jerry Ross officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation hours will be on Tuesday, March 27 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 28t prior to the funeral, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m.
