Tom was born in Muncie on Oct. 19, 1937 to Earl and Edna (Hawk) Vlaskamp. He was a graduate of Muncie Central High School, and Tom worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years as a Postmaster in Solsberry. Tom was an active member of the Antioch Christian Church in Bloomfield, National Active and Retired Federal Employees, serving as their Vice President, Bloomfield Friends of the Library and the Greene County Right to Life.
Survivors include his loving wife of 34 years Lois M. (Hanson) Vlaskamp; daughter, Angie Wilson (husband Shawn); son, Aaron Vlaskamp (wife Erin); daughter, April Skinner (husband Tony); son Brandy Vlaskamp (wife-Brandy), all of Muncie; sons Eric Vlaskamp and Jon Vlaskamp both of Seattle, Wash.; son, Thomas A. Vlaskamp III of Bloomfield; sister, Elaine Vlaskamp of Bloomfield; 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Antioch Christian Church in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Arlen Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to service Friday, all at the Antioch Christian Church.
