He was born in Sullivan on Aug. 7, 1952 the son of Robert Sexton and Mary Secrest Sexton.
John was a Marine, a member of the Followers of Christ Baptist Church in Carlisle, the Linton American Legion Post 22, Linton Masonic Lodge 560, and the Greene County Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Woolard Sexton, mother, Mary Secrest Chanley of Linton, two sons, Jared Sexton of Yorktown, Ind., and Thomas E. Bailey III of Linton, two daughters, Alisa Espinos (Cesar) of Indianapolis, Daniela Rumple (Brian) of Linton, five grandchildren Kirk Williams, Drake Vandeventer, Christian Daily, Johnathan, and Dylan Rumple, and one great grandchild McKenzie Williams.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Pastor Glenn Archer officiating. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Linton with military graveside rites by the Linton American Legion Post 22.
