She was born on Dec. 8, 1943 in Sullivan, the daughter of Robert R. and Cora A. (Ransford) Ellis. Kay graduated from Union High School in 1961 in Dugger, and was a former bookkeeper for Sullivan State Bank. She was a devoted Christian and attended Westside Church of Christ in Sullivan. Kay loved to travel and was one of the founders of Women Aglow in Greene County.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 40 years, Ralph L. Cox who passed away on June 17, 2010; brother, Bill Ellis and one niece, Jessi Gambill.
Survivors include two brothers, Brad (Anne) Ellis of Bloomfield and Bruce (Debbie) Ellis of Dugger; two sisters, Alice (Dorman) Hardesty of Dugger and Reva (Scott) Gambill of Dugger; nine nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Banks and Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan. Interment will follow in Hickory Cemetery located in Dugger. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 at Banks and Brust Funeral Home.
