National Day of Prayer observed in Linton

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Sixty years ago the U.S. Congress established the National Day of Prayer, and that day was celebrated throughout the nation on Thursday. Eight separate prayer gatherings were conducted in Linton, each praying for a specific purpose. Those included: families at Linton Church of Christ; caregivers and nursing home residents at Glenburn Home; Greene County General Hospital staff and hospital; government and the city at the Linton City Hall; and the food pantry at 4th and E Street. Here, Rev. Jim Cooper, pastor of the Linton United Methodist Church, leads a group in prayer in front of the Linton City Hall. (By Nick Schneider)
