Steve was born in Muncie on Feb. 4, 1950 the son of Clarence and Rovena (Gilbert) Walker, and graduated from Southside High School. He later received an Associate's Degree from Ivy Tech. Mr. Walker served his country proudly during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Steve worked for the United States Post Office for 21 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1108 in Richmond and a lifetime member of AmVets Post 12.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Walker, Muncie; six children, Chad Walker, (wife-Maggie), Yorktown, Bethany Swan, (husband-Josh), Selma, Kathy Butterfield, (companion-Mike), Muncie, Jennifer Head, (husband-David), New Castle, Matthew Walker, (wife-Noel), Muncie, and Lynzie Purvis, (husband-Ryan), Muncie; a sister, Shirley Barton, Windsor; a brother Larry Walker, Muncie; 10 grandchildren, Josh, Tori, Tina, Tanner, Kaya, Stephen, Joey, Izak, Rylan, and Carter; several nieces nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife until her death, Cheryl Walker; a brother, Charles Walker; and a brother-in-law, Don Barton.
Service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Parson Mortuary with Larry Johnson and Phil Weans officiating. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery. Friends may call at Parson Mortuary from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, or one hour prior to time of service Monday. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery by Delaware County Honor Guard.
