He was born in Bloomington on July 21, 1947 to Richard and Catherine (Argiros) Burks. Jerry was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from G.E. in Bloomington in 2003. He attended the Solsberry Christian Church. Mr. Burks was a member of the National Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Wildridge Association at Patoka Lake. He was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping, wintering in Florida and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue (Wilcox) Burks; sons, Tim Burks (Chrissy) of Bloomfield and Thomas (Tracey) of Lyons; brother, Jerald Burks (Patty) of Solsberry; grandchildren, Kathy Sue Burks and Brady Thomas Burks; sister in-law, Shelia Burks of Bloomfield, brother in-law, Steve Wilcox of Chicago, and brother in-law and sister in-law, Myrta and Gary Hudson of Solsberry; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jim Burks.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., at the Solsberry Christian Church on Tuesday, June 12. Pastor Don Thie will officiate. Burial will follow at the Liberty Cemetery in Hendricksville where military graveside services will be conducted by the Solsberry American Legion.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Monday, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral in Spencer, and one-hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
