A third person has been charged in connection with the hit-and-run crash in the Greene-Sullivan State Forest on June 26.
A charge of obstruction of justice ---- a class D felony ---- was filed late Thursday against Joshua Marlow, 24, of Jasonville.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Marlow allegedly filled two plastic gas cans with water and poured it on the road to hide evidence leading from the site where a truck driven by Russell L. Goodman, Sr. allegedly struck four pedestrians ---- including three children ---- who were fishing off of a bridge. The evidence led to Goodman's Pleasantville residence.
The tire on the GMC truck allegedly driven by Russell L. Goodman, Sr. was blown and the vehicle drove on its rim for several miles en route to his residence. The rim rolling on the pavement produced scratches and indentions on the roadway.
In addition, Marlow allegedly drove the suspect's truck into a wooded area in an effort to hide evidence from police after he was asked to do so by Russell Goodman, Jr., according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene Superior Court by Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Heath Murray.
About 15-20 minutes later, Marlow was told by Russell Goodman, Jr. to drive the truck out of the woods and place it behind a garage on his dad's property, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Prior to instructing Marlow to hide the truck and wash the roadway, Russell Goodman, Jr. allegedly told Marlow that his dad may have "hit a kid."
Russell L. Goodman, Sr., 46, and his son, Russell L. Goodman, Jr., both face charges filed in Greene Superior Court.
Both live at 7834 S. Pleasant Main Street in Pleasantville.
Russell Goodman, Sr., faces preliminary charges of four counts of failure to stop and remain at the scene of an accident resulting in injury - all class D felonies; and one count of obstruction of justice - a class D felony.
He was arrested Tuesday and bonded out the same day after posting $2,000 cash bond on a $20,000 appearance bond.
An initial hearing is slated for 1 p.m. on Monday in Greene Superior Court to formally charge him.
Preliminary charges of obstruction of justice - a class D felony; and false informing - a class A misdemeanor - were filed Thursday morning against Russell L. Goodman, Jr. after Superior Court Judge Dena Martin approved a probable cause affidavit. Russell Goodman, Jr. has not been arrested.
Russell Goodman Sr. is accused of being the driver of a 2002 GMC pickup with a camper top that struck 11-year-old Justice Hammond; 10-year-old Danielle Hammond; 8-year-old Blake Hammond - all of Linton, and Michael Delp, the fiancé to Jessica Giles, who was walking with the group but escaped injury.
The children's mother and Delp's sister, Veronica Hammond, also was narrowly missed by the speeding truck that allegedly failed to stop after the mishap.
The three children have been released from the hospital along with Delp. All are home, but face a long road to recovery, according Mark Hammond, the father to the trio of children.
The collision took place between the truck and four individuals on a bridge located on County Road 1400W about 340 feet north of County Road 100S in Greene County shortly after midnight on June 26.

I personally think bond should have/be set for at least $20,000 per each person struck down.!! $2,000 is all it took for this idiot that had no regards to mowing down 4 people 3 of whom are children!!! Shame on all that was involved! I hope you all find yourselves not only with some jail time...but also smacked with a civil suit that leaves you not even a pot to cook in! Peoples lives are more important than facing some trouble you may have thought you would be in for whatever reasons it may have been!!
After being in hiding until Tuesday, I can't believe there was any bond at all. $2,000 is ridiculous.
I worked for Marlow Bros. Farm 30+ years ago. Is this any relation??
I agree blueydame! Do to hiding out so long, a good lawyer will argue no proof of being under the influence "at the time"and will say he didn't know he had actually hit anybody or he was to afraid to turn himself in when he found out he did...blahblahblah. if the two you younger guys(son/friend)was smart, they should tell the truth if the driver was under the influence and all they know in order to make it easier on themselves and show some sort of remorse for what happened!
I pray for everyone involved including the driver and passenger because I'm related to them so leave them alone maybe they didn't realise Wat they did but there paying for it now so keep ur comments to ur self
How can someone not realize they just hit 4 people?! If they did not realize then they must have been under the influence, and if they did not realize then why did they try covering it up? I understand people make mistakes but they should have admitted to it and the VERY least they could have done was stopped and tried to help and stick around for the police. Fleeing the scene says something to me.......sad deal for everyone involved
these families need help. 2 birls in w/c mom doing everything plus taking care of 5 other kids because it was a crime medicaid won't help. a small bakesale was held sat at roy clark building
mike delp the uncle of tne girls is at home in bad shape and cant care for his fiance and 2 children and 2 more from another relationship i have seen the community come together for less. letz help these families. God Bless them
It is a sad day when people get away with running down 4 people. I for one don't think any of the people in that truck deserve a break. Those kids don't get a break from their pain and suffering. Shame on every single person involved in this tradegy. When you lower then pond scum individuals go to sleep at night I hope you suffer from the screams of those kids. There is no possible way you can deny knowng that you just about killed 4 innocent people. May God judge you harshly when your time comes cause we all know the Greene County court system won't
my prayers go out to all of those involved with the accident. but all i need to say is, leave my son alone, leave him out of it. his name shouldn't even be brought up. he has nothing to do with it....
All of you people shouldnt judge Russel Goodman. It was an accident he did not purposely hit these people. Russel is a good hard workin man . And honestly these people shouldnt have been havin small children out that late on a dirt road. Anything could have happened. You should judge someone for the mistakes they have made. Cause alot of u have made mistakes in ur life that ur not happy with. Im sorry for the people who was injured. But let the court handle it and keep ur comments to urself.. You was not there the night of the accident so.there fore u do.not know exactly what happened.
