Thursday, July 12
* The Linton Public Library will be hosting Scrapbooking Magic, teaching you to make a new scrapbook out of a recycled book at 4 p.m. Bring your own material (paper, stickers, glue, etc.). We supply the book. You may also print off black and white pictures from your Facebook or email to use. To print at the library is $.10 per page. This a free craft, but sign up is required.
* The Northeast School Corporation Board of School Trustees will be meeting in executive session at 6 p.m. in the Administrative Office, located at 406 N. Vine Street in Hymera.
* The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library main branch will have their "Milk and Cookies, Family Storytime" at 6:30 p.m. The theme will be "Camping Stories."
* The MSD of Shakamak Board of School Trustees will conduct its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 8 p.m. in the Shakamak Junior/Senior High School Media Center.
* The Watershed Coordinator for the Plummer/Richland Creek Watershed Project is welcoming the public to an advisory committee meeting at 6 p.m. at the Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District Office, located at 104 CR 70 E Suite B.
* The regular monthly meeting of the Greene County Sheriff's Department Merit Board will meet at 6 p.m. in the conference room at the Greene County Jail, located at 204 CR 70E at the east edge of Bloomfield.
* The Bloomfield School District Board of Trustees will meet in special session at 7 p.m. in the Junior High Conference Room.

* Worthington Town Council will be meeting in executive session at 5 p.m. at the Town Hall.
* Linton Moose will have a steak, pork chop and shrimp dinner at 5 p.m. All money benefits charity. Members and guests are welcome.
* Pastor Vernon Thompson and congregation would like to invite you to our revival. The Rev. Rodney Reynolds of Bedford will be at the Switz City Full Gospel Church at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Saturday, July 14
* Pastor Hill invites you to a gospel sing at Hobbieville Christian Fellowship Church the second Saturday of each month, with food and fellowship beginning at 6 p.m. There will be different groups each week, and Evening Light Gospel Singers will be featured.
* There will be a car wash and cook-out fundraiser for Carson Albright starting at 8 a.m. The car wash will be by donation only. The cook-out will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, coney dogs, chips, water and soda for a very low price. Please come out and join the fun. It will be at the Switz City Baptist Church. * The Lyons Senior Center monthly breakfast will be from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Breakfast will include biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, pancakes, milk, and coffee.
* The Furnace School Reunion will be at the Mineral Community Building. There will be a carry-in lunch at noon. Drinks will be furnished.
* The annual Mowery reunion will be from noon to 5 p.m. at the new Community Building at the Dugger Park. A covered-dished lunch will be served at noon. Table service will be provided.

* "Dancing to the Wrong Tune?" will be the sermon presented by Pastor Doris Sparks at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1759 E SR 54 in Linton. Everyone is welcome to worship with us at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Children are especially welcome. Please "come as you are" each Sunday. A hospitality time follows worship each week. Christian education time begins at 11 a.m.

Monday, July 16
* Audio books on cassette will be on sale for $.50 each at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library from today until Tuesday, July 31. No matter what you like to read, you are sure to find something you like. There are mysteries, romances, inspirational fiction, biographies and more. You will find the books upstairs at the main library, 125 S. Franklin Street in Bloomfield. Books may be purchased any time the library is open. Hours are Monday -- Thursday 10 -- 8, Friday & Saturday 10 -- 5.
* Indian Prarie Invites you to Vacation Bible School this year. Our theme is "Rev it up: Full throttle for God". It will be held at the church today until July 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. nightly. Rides may be provided. Come out and join us. If you have any questions call Pastor Tim Ferree at 812-564-1561.
* Bethel Community Church, just south of Dugger on S.R. 159, will be hosting a Vacation Bible School until Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.
Tuesday, July 17
* The Dugger Coal Festival "My Thirty-One" Bingo will open its doors at 6 p.m., and the bingo will begin at 7 p.m. at the Dugger Community Building. Twenty games of Bingo is $10. There will also be "My Thirty-One" raffles, an early bird drawing, a silent auction and 50/50. Food will be available. The raffle will include a quilt made and donated by participants in the P.L.U.S. Program at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. All proceeds will go towards the 2012 Dugger Coal Festival.
* The Linton Public Library will be hosting an Adult Book Bingo at 4 p.m. Get a Bingo, and win a book. Teens will be allowed to play if accompanied by an adult. Sign up is preferred.
* Apostalic Bibleway Church, located at 310 E Vincennes Street in Linton, will be hosting a Kids-R-Cool Cruise-In Vacation Bible School today until July 20 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. nightly. Light snacks will be provided. Special achievement night is planned for all VBS youth and their families July 20. A cookout and car show will conclude the VBS Camp. * Linton First Christian Church will host its Vacation Bible School titled "Unshakable" starting today, and lasting until July 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Any child age 4-years-old to sixth grade is welcome to attend. You may call the church at 847-9535 for more information.

* Greene County General Hospital will be hosting a Scrub and Uniform Sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospital lobby. All proceeds will go towards purchasing equipment for the hospital.
Friday, July 20
* Providence Baptist Church will host a Weekend Revival today and continuing to Sunday. Friday and Saturday services start at 7 p.m., and Sunday services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Evangelist Doug Ramage. Sunday, July 22
* American Legion Post No. 22, along with American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 22, will host the 2013 Organizational Meeting for the Seventh District. At this time, the 2013 District Officers will be installed. Two members of Unit No. 22 will be installed: Chaplain Rita Brinson and First Vice President Shirley Brinson. The 7th District is formed of 27 units of Southern Indiana. The meetings will follow a lunch served for those attending from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at $6 per person.

* There will be a called meeting of the Dugger Lodge No. 721 F&AM. Dinner will be at 6 p.m., and work will begin at 7 p.m. in the EA Degree. Visiting brethren welcome.
Saturday, July 28
* The 56th Annual Dugger Coal Festival Four Person Golf Scramble will be held at the Phil Harris Golf Course in Linton. There is a $25 registration fee, plus the cost of cart and green fees. The first player to make a hole-in-one of the designated par 3 wins $10,000. Two other desginated par 3's offers trips and other prizes. Cash prize payouts to first and second place. * Worthington Community Vacation Bible School will be at the Hinchman Building in the city park until Aug. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The program is for students age 4-years-old to sixth grade. To pre-register call 812-875-3301. It's sponsored by Worthington Baptist, Christian and Methodist Churches.
Monday, July 30
* Registration for Linton-Stockton Elementary School, grades K through 5, will be in the elementary cafeteria. Registration times are 8:30 a.m. until noon and 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. You may register and pay your book fees online this year. Log in to your child's Harmony account and go to Online Registration. Online registration will open on July 24 and will run through July 30. All returning students and incoming kindergarten students must register for the new school year either by online registration or registering at school on July 30, 2012. New students to the school district will register on July 25 from 8 a.m. until noon.
Tuesday, July 31
* Registration for Linton-Stockton Junior High and High School will be Tuesday July 31 in the High School Media Center 8:30 a.m. until noon and 1 to 6 p.m. You may register and pay your book fees online. No waiting in line -- just log into your child's Harmony account and go to Online Registration and it's not necessary to come to the school. If you do not register online you will be asked to use a school computer to do this same process. Online Registration will be July 24 to July 31. You can pay book fees online and also deposit money in your child's lunch account by using PayRedi. A small fee is charged for on-line payments. You may access the PayRedi system on the school's website. Payments also can be mailed to the Jr High/High School Treasurer at 10 H St NE Linton. High school students need to pay $1 for parking permits separately in the High school office. The first day of school is Friday, August 10th
Friday, Aug. 3
* There will be a yard sale and bake sale at the Lyons Community Building, located at 600 W. Broad Street, today and Saturday, Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everything will be priced to go. The benefit is being given by the Lyons United Methodist Church, with all money going towards the Lyons Veterans Memorial. There will be something for everyone, including some school clothing. Please come and support us.
Saturday, Aug. 18
* Dugger Elementary sixth graders will host a fundraiser co-ed softball tournament to raise money for a class trip to St. Louis. * The Switz City Central 1940s and 1950s reunion will be at the Old Bank and Company Restaurant in Linton. Invitations will be mailed in July.

* The Summer Food Program will offer free hot lunches to anyone under the age of 18, May 29 to Aug. 9 Monday through Friday, noon to 1 p.m. at the west shelterhouse in Linton's Humphreys Park, Lyons Community Building, Bloomfield First Christian Church, Worthington Community Building in the park, and the Lawton Street Christian Church in Jasonville. Some sites have activities planned after lunch.
* The Shakamak Jr./Sr. High School Choir Boosters are now selling new discount cards for $5. There are several Jasonville and Linton businesses on each card. * The 29th Annual American Red Cross Book Fair will be Sept. 27-Oct. 2 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds, Commercial Building West. There will be 100,000 gently used books, CDs, videos, DVDs, cassettes, records, games, puzzles, maps, sheet music, and many other items for sale at very reasonable prices. All proceeds from the Book Fair benefit Red Cross disaster relief, service to military families, and emergency preparedness services in Monroe and Owen Counties.

* The Linton Public Library is operating daily book sales. Any time the library is open, patrons may browse the book sale aisle for books, VHS, books on cassette, audio books, and DVDs. The book sale aisle is now located at the front of the library. Please pay for purchases at the circulation desk.

* Books for Babies is a national literacy program that acquaints parents and newborns with the important role they play in the development of their children. Parents are presented with a Books for Babies kit containing a book, baby's first library card and brochures with reading tips for parents and caregivers. If you are a new mother and a resident of Greene County in one of the following townships -- Richland, Highland, Taylor, Beech Creek, Center or Jackson -- you are eligible for a free gift for you and your baby. Please bring your baby in "to show him/her off" to the circulation desk in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library, 125 Franklin St. in Bloomfield to receive your free gift.
* Bingo at the American Legion in Worthington is on Fridays. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with games at 6:15 p.m. This is open to the public. Cost is $30 for 15 games All proceeds go to the Worthington American Legion. This event is non-smoking with breaks made for smokers to go outdoors.
* A 12-Step Overcomers Recovery Support Meeting is held every Wednesday at the Family Life Center on the East side of the square in Bloomfield from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Come and join us to overcome life-controlling problems of all sorts with Bible principles, prayer, memory verses and weekly support. * The Lyons Community Food Pantry at 150 East Broad Street (the old fire station) will be open from 4-6 p.m. the third Monday of every month, and the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon. The pantry serves zip codes 47443, 47449, and 47465.
* The Worthington Park Board will host meetings at 6 p.m. on each first Wednesday of the month at the Worthington Municipal Building in downtown Worthington. The public is welcome to attend.
* Mineral United Methodist Church will have Bible study from 7 - 8 p.m. on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

* Lebanon Baptist Food Pantry will only be open on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m.
