Mildred Lorean (Deckard) Sluder, 96, of Dedham, Mass., and formerly of Dugger, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 while vacationing in Rüdesheim, Germany.

She was born on Nov. 23, 1915 in Dugger the daughter of Floyd Benton and Sarah Ivy Deckard. Mildred was the head of the developmental reading department in Westwood, Mass.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester Ivan Sluder on Sept. 11, 2006, son John Thomas Sluder on Oct. 16, 2003, five brothers Winnie "George" Deckard on July 8, 1944, Neville Elwood Deckard on March 21, 1997, Lester Denman Deckard on Aug. 1, 1957, Frank Benton Deckard on Feb. 14, 1985, and Raymond Deckard on Oct. 10, 1927.

Survivors include her daughter Nelle Lorean Sluder Whittemore, five grandchildren; Arya Bagherpour, AttessaBagherpour, Cameron Bagherpour, Alexander Anthony Whittemore, and Christopher Michael Whittemore, four great-grandchildren; Jared Bagherpour, Emily Bagherpour, Samantha Bagherpour, and Noah Palomar Bagherpour. Mildred is also survived by two sister in laws; Pansy Deckard of Terre Haute and MarilynSluder of Greenwood.

Graveside funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 30, at Peavey Cemetery in Jasonville with Bro. Jerry Carmichael officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until noon on Monday, July 30 at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger.
