Summer reading program at Eastern
Students and adults attended the "Be a Gold Medal Reader" summer reading program at Eastern Greene Elementary. The Summer Olympics theme was part of the program. Each week a sports related story was shared and crafts were made supporting various Olympic sports. Attendance each week averaged above 45 participants. Students checked out library books during their visits and AR quizzes were taken on books read. The program provided students an opportunity to continue reading throughout the summer break, to earn AR points towards the new school year and also introduced the library and its various programs including Accelerated Reader to many visiting adults.
