Joyce was born on August 29, 1944 in Vincennes to William and Vivian (Curry) Ruminer.
She was a graduate of Switz City Central High School as well as Vincennes University.
Joyce married Roy Junior ("Dink") Mason on March 16, 1968 at the Sanborn Baptist Church, where she was a member. They had twin sons, Dustin William and Justin Roy, on August 23, 1980. She resided in Linton for over 50 years.
After high school, she worked as a cashier at the Red & White grocery store in Linton. After working for Red and White, Joyce began her 30-year career at RCA in Bloomington, Ind. After leaving RCA, she obtained her nursing degree and began a new career working at the Lyons Health & Living Center, as well as the Owen County Health Campus in Spencer.
In recent years, she had worked as a home health care provider for Good Samaritan Home Care Service, where she provided love, friendship and quality care for many people in Greene and Sullivan Counties. Joyce, along with her husband Roy, owned and operated a food concession stand at Bakersfield Raceway Park for several years. She attended the Linton First Baptist Church. Joyce loved being with her family, spending time working in her yard and garden, and taking care of her many patients. She loved her pets and was devoted to their well-being. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Justin, of Freelandville, Ind. and Dustin, of Linton; one sister, Nancy (Ruminer) Correll of Linton; two nephews, Tony Correll of Westlake, Ohio and Jason Correll of Cohassett, Massachusetts; aunts, Lucille Bowers, Betty (Laverne) Tilly, and Kathleen Curry Pack, all of Bicknell, Indiana. She is also survived by several cousins.
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 11 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Tyra officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 10 and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
