Vernon C. "Butch" Dicus, age 68 of Linton, passed away at 2:35 A.M. on Wednesday, August 08, 2012, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Worthington on November 22, 1943, the son of William & Jessie America (Rawley) Dicus. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Bemis in Terre Haute after many years of service. Butch was a member of the Faithway Bible Church in Worthington. He is survived by his wife, Donna M. (Byers) Dicus of Linton, whom he married May 27, 1992, a daughter, Carolyn (Chad) Brooks of Terre Haute, a son, Donald (Stephanie) Dicus of Terre Haute, two step-daughters, Karen (Burl) White of Dugger and Kathy (Mark) Deal of Sullivan, a step-son, Ronald Dicus of Jasonville, a brother, Richard Dicus of Indianapolis, two sisters, Helen Fougerousse of Jasonville and Maxine Dicus of Terre Haute, fourteen grandchildren including Chris Sherrow whom gave special care to his grandfather, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Joe & Jack Dicus, and four sisters, Edna Basham, Pearl Dicus, Bessie Bays, and Rosalee Buckallew. Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 12, 2012, Pastor Terry Dowell officiating. Burial will follow at Worthington Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Linton American Legion Post #22. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., and Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
