Donald G. Weyer, 89, of Ferdinand died Saturday Aug. 25 at The Providence Home in Jasper.
He was born Dec. 30,1922 in Ireland, In. to Ferdinand Sr. and Emma (Kippenbrock) Weyer. He married Helen C. Englert on Oct. 18,1947 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony. She preceded him in death on Nov. 2,2005.
Donald was a retired upholsterer at Jasper Chair and a farmer. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed farming, family and traveling. He was a WWII veteran serving in Germany helping to secure the concentration camps. He was a member of the American Legion Post 124 Ferdinand and the Jasper Veterans Of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Mary Lou) Stewart of Edwardsport, Ind. and Mrs. Bill (Carolyn) Williams of Cincinnati, Oh.; four grandsons, three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Meleties Weyer of Ireland.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Weyer and 3 brothers, Robert, Ferdinand Jr. (Ferdie) and Richard Weyer.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, burial with military graveside rites by Ferdinand American Legion Post 124.
