He was born in Delphos, Ohio on June 24, 1919, the son of Learon and Mary Ellen (Rudell) Heck.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Richard retired in 1976 from Meadow Gold Dairy in Ft. Wayne, and moved to Worthington in 1981. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. Richard was a member of the Worthington American Legion and was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, whom he married on Oct. 11, 1947, Lois Mae (John) Heck of Worthington; two sons, Terry L. (Barbara) Heck of Spencer and Richard A. (Sue) Heck of Marietta, GA; five grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Donald Heck; and a sister, Evelyn Hobbs.
A private family funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington on Saturday, Sept. 29 with Pastor Terry Marker officiating.
Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.
There will be no public viewing or service.
