Cooper paces Lady Miner victory

Ashley Cooper had a career-high 44 digs to go along with one kill and four aces on 19-for-19 serving to help the Linton-Stockton High School volleyball team defeat host Edgewood 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, 26-28, 15-11 Tuesday night.

"Ashley really had an outstanding game serving and with her defense," said Lady Miner coach Jill Fougerousse, who's Lady Miners improved to 15-11. "A lot of credit goes to Ashley for her serving and her passing and serve receive."

The Lady Miners were 95 of 97 serving as Courtney Barnes (17 of 17), Carlie Booe (15 of 15) and Courtney Johnson (13 of 13) all were perfect from behind the service line.

"We really kept them on their toes with the way all the girls served," said Fougerousse. "This was a really great win against a team that we were outmatched in size against.

"The girls were phenomenal and never gave up. They all deserve a lot of credit."

The Lady Miners will be back in action Thursday at Dugger against Union.
