Be aware of what
president is trying to do
To the Editor:
The front cover of the May 21, 2012 issue of Newsweek has a picture of President Obama with a rainbow colored halo over his head. At the bottom of the photo are the following words, The First Gay President.
President Obama's for the first time coming out in full favor of what is being called marriage by two people of the same sex. President Obama wants to bring our society down by the same evil which brought God's wrath upon Sodom and Gomorrah.
Obama said publicly with regard to his first announced approval of same-sex marriage. But the truth is it was the logical extension of what America's supposed to be. The president has said that his view of same-sex marriage has been evolving.
Remember the president of this great nation said that boys marrying boys, and girls marrying girls is the logical extension of what America's supposed to be. Obama ran on the promise of change in his election bid. Now we are seeing some of that change God's law with regard to marriage.
Sen. Rand Paul said that the president's view on gay marriage couldn't get any gayer. This statement, simply showing President Obama's determination to make of our country a land like Sodom and Gomorrah.
Polls are now showing a majority of people taking the evil side of same-sex marriage with Obama. This generation is more in tune with liberalism than those of the past.
One of the most effective tools of the devil is to lead people into a slumber of indifference with a don't care attitude. We need to take to heart Paul's advice to the Ephesian brethren. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light (Ephesians 5:14). More are asleep now than we have ever seen.
President Obama is all set to change God's law with regard to marriage. May the Lord bless our country so that Obama's plans never succeed. Where did the idea come from that America is supposed to be a country of homosexuals? This idea certainly did not come from God, has God changed His mind with regard to Sodom and Gomorrah? Do not count on it.
Be seriously thinking about the upcoming election in November.

Thank you for
all your support
To the Editor:
I would like to thank the Greene County General Hospital Board of Trustees and administrative staff for my recent retirement reception after 32 years.
It's been a pleasure working with employees, medical staff and board members as well as the hospital volunteers, both in the present and past.
I have also appreciated getting to know and working with residents and businesses of the Greene County Community.
A special thanks goes to the past administrator of the hospital, Malcom Clippinger, who gave me a chance 32 years ago and taught me three primary management principles -- first, balance financial responsible decision-making with quality and patient service initiatives; secondly, try to think three steps ahead of the next guy when considering future ideas and last but not least treat your co-workers with respect and trust.

Thanks for helping with Miner Hall of Fame
To the Editor:
On Saturday, Sept. 29 the former Miner diamond greats took the field at the FOP softball field for the ninth annual Linton Miner Baseball Alumni Game.
A new tradition was started this year with a nine-inning softball game being played instead of a baseball game. Also new for this year was a social hour following the game with pizza and pop for the players and their families.
The 29th and 30th inductions went into the Miner baseball hall of fame on Saturday. A plaque hangs on the wall by the high school gym with all the hall of famers listed on it.
Special thank yous go out to Dave Evans from Baesler's for donating the pop, Wes Landis and Pizza Hut for donating the pizzas, and Derek McKee and Chad Crynes for all of your help, ideas, and assistance.

Marco fish fry a success because of lots of help
To the Editor:
The Marco United Methodist Church had another successful fish fry on Sept. 30. We would like to acknowledge and thank the following for helping us make it such a success:
Bucky and Judy Mullis for providing the tent; Bill Owens and Rogers Group and Elaine Dayhoff for the wonderful gospel music; Rick Baker, Lyons Value Mart, Save A Lot and Baesler's Foods, and to all the numerous people who assisted in preparing and serving the food.
Without all of this assistance, we wouldn't have been able to have had the fish fry.

To the Editor:
The Mount Moriah Cemetery in Bucktown was vandalized on Sept. 29. No headstones were found to be damaged but several urns on the stones were destroyed along with plant hangers, flowers and various items left on monuments.
The cemetery board will be cleaning up on Oct. 4 so mowing of cemetery can continue. If you have any questions, please call board president Wayne Jackson at (812) 268-3098.
