He was born on Oct. 26, 1927 in Cass, Ind., the son of George Fidler and Ivy (Shouse) Fidler.
John was a retired tool and dye setter and a Navy veteran in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Marie Buchanan Fidler on June 22, 2007; his parents; three brothers, George, Albert and Tommy Fidler; two sisters, Norma Turner and Inez Cook; and one grandson, Nathan Spears.
Survivors include one son, John Fidler Jr. of Linton; four daughters, Lynn Whalen (Greg) of Elkhart, Kim McCammon of Dugger, Lori Mitchell of St. Louis, Mo., and Kathie Fidler of Dugger; 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m.on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Indian Prairie Cemetery in Carlisle, Ind. with Rev. Erica Roth officiating.
