Bloomfield boys' tennis run in the Jasper regional stopped abruptly with a 5-0 loss to 15-1 Vincennes Rivet Tuesday afternoon.
The match was anything but quick according to BHS coach Mike Canty.
Two rain delays finally forced the tournament inside to Jasper High School's two indoor courts.
"Rivet's singles players were undoubtedly the best singles trio we faced this year and just too strong for Bloomfield," Canty said.
At No. 1 singles Del Carter couldn't manage to squeeze out a game as he was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Dalton Robbins.
Alex Chestnut got a game in the first set but was shutout in the second set when Aaron Pea won 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles position.
In the final singles spot Conner Dowden was bageled in his first set but got stronger as the match went on losing 6-0, 6-3 to Alex Stenger.
Both Bloomfield doubles teams were playing well and winning until the rains came causing the matches to move inside.
The No. 1 doubles team of Andrew Dawson and Jared Myers was up a set when the delay came.
After they resumed play they couldn't adjust to the inside game and dropped the match 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 to Blake Mouzin and Nick Niehaus.
The same type of situation occurred at the second doubles spot where Evan Fuller and Hunter Heaton were up 5-4 in the first set and then lost nine straight games to be defeated 7-5, 6-0 by Colin Wirth and Mitchell Hamilton.
The Cardinals finish the year with a sectional championship, an 11-10 record, and a bright future with six of the seven starters returning.
